HOW TO: STAY MOTIVATED

THE KEY TO MOTIVATION:

1. Set yourself achievable but challenging goals:

The Goal-setting theory puts significant emphasis that goals should be CHALLENGING but ACHIEVABLE. A goal too easy will not motivate you and you won’t feel accomplished. But a goal too difficult can leave you unmotivated and let-down.

Try setting yourself goals that you know will push you, but you know that with hard work you will be able to achieve. Not only will you feel more motivated to accomplish it, the satisfaction when its complete will be worth it.

2. Don’t over work yourself:

We all have those days where everything seems to take over and you barely have a minute to think. Make sure you take at least a few moments out to have a breather, do something you enjoy, and just relax. You find yourself motivated and ready to get back to business.

3. Take a step back to remember why you’re doing this:

When times get busy its easy to forget why your even started. Take a step back and remember why you want to accomplish your goals. Whether its weightloss, getting that promotion at work or studying for exams. Focus on the end goal and the rewards you’ll get in the long run.

4. Are you on the right course? Is it a sign for change?:

The reason you may feel so unmotivated is because its not right for you. Its ok to change your mind. What you thought may have been the right thing for you a year ago, may not be the right thing for you know. Things change and so do you. Think carefully whether its time to let go and start a new adventure in your life.

5. Exercise:

Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and can make you feel more motivated afterwards. Demotivated can be caused by stress and spending as little as 10 minutes a day to relieve some stress can make you feel like you’ve accomplished something even if it wasn’t what you were intending!!

Hope some of these tips help you stay motivated when you feel like giving up. I’m currently studying for my university exams and as stressful as it is, I know it’ll be worth it in the long run.
